X1 diver Patrick Widmann explores mammoth fossils
In May 2011, Liquivision X1 diver Patrick Widmann continued to explore megafauna fossils in Cara Blanca, Belize, including possible remains of giant sloths, mammoths or mastodons. Here is a video of his dive, and the related New York Times article.
The initial discovery of the remains was made by Robbie Schmittner and Kim Davidsson in 2010. In May 2011, Marty O’Farrell discovered additional fossil beds in the Cara Blanca cenote, as part of a dive team including: Andrew Kinkella, Lisa Lucero, Chip Petersen, Patrick Widmann, and Kim Davidsson.
